Easy Indoor Greenhouse

Creating an indoor greenhouse can help you get a jump start on your plants for spring. It is quite an easy thing to do, and it does not require a lot of expensive equipment. It does require some basic things, and it does require time and effort on your part, but overall, it is a simple project to take on.

First of all, you will obviously need seeds and good soil to plant them in. I would recommend buying soil that is formulated for growing seeds because it is mixed specifically for that purpose. You will also need some type of pots. Cardboard egg cartons are great for this purpose.

Next, you will need to decide where you will place your plants. The location helps to determine what other materials you may need. If you have a location in your home that gets plenty of sunlight throughout the winter, you will need less supplies that if you are creating your greenhouse in a darker area.

If you have chosen to put your plants somewhere that they will get plenty of light during the winter months, then all you need is clear plastic to cover the pots with until the seeds sprout well.

If you are putting your plants in a darker area of your home, you will need fluorescent lights to help the plants grow, and if the area is cold or drafty, you may need a space heater to help keep your plants warm. You will also need to have a clear cover over your plants to allow the light in and to help keep the soil moist and the air humid. If you are placing your plants on a shelving unit, you can easily attach one light to each shelf and cover the entire thing with plastic sheeting.

Now, all you have to do is watch your plants. Water them as the soil gets dry, but do not over water. The soil should be damp, not soaked. Soaking the soil too much can cause the plants to rot.

Once your plants have grown to the point where they are well established seedlings, you will want to lift the plastic during the day, or open the plastic curtain you have created to allow plenty of air-flow to your plants.

If you are using the light method to grow your plants, it helps to maintain a normal schedule for the plants so when you transplant them later, they can easily adjust to day and night. If you are not using the lighting method, chances are that your plants will adjust fine because they are already on nature’s schedule

Now that you have grown your plants and gotten them safely into the ground, continue caring for them and enjoy watching them grow.

The plants require nothing more than the utmost care from their masters for it is only then can they survive for a longer period with the requisite amount of sunlight and water and this process is no less than a greenhouse film where they play the leading role.
