Hit and Run- starring Dax Shepard and Kristen Bell

Hit and Run had the potential to be... bad. Really, really bad. Why would a movie about some guy leaving witness protection to take his girlfriend to Los Angeles be interesting, I asked myself... Because it is Dax Shepherd, is the answer. His mind is a unique one- and rolling on the floor laughing is how I usually end up after watching him. Here is the synopsis: Written, produced and directed by comic talent Dax Shepard (NBC’s “Parenthood”), HIT & RUN is the story of Charlie Bronson … [Read more...]

The Odd Life of Timothy Green

When I first heard of this movie, I will admit, I was curious. The name alone tends to grab your attention and make you go hmmm... I wonder what that one is about? Here is the synopsis- Academy Award®–nominated director/writer Peter Hedges (“Dan in Real Life,” What’s Eating Gilbert Grape?”) brings enchantment to the screen with “The Odd Life of Timothy Green,” an inspiring, magical story about a happily married couple, Cindy and Jim Green (Jennifer Garner and Joel Edgerton), who can’t wait to … [Read more...]

What is TED?

When I first saw the preview for TED, I thought, "no way... how bad is this going to be?". Then I took a look at who was starring in it. In a movie directed by Seth MacFarlane (Family Guy) who also does the voice of Ted, you see the acting skills of Mark Wahlberg (Marky Mark- duh...), Mila Kunis (That 70's show, Forgetting Sarah Marshall, Friends with Benefits), Joel McHale (The Soup, Community), Giovanni Ribisi (Boiler Room), Patrick Warburton (Seinfeld-the face painter guy-) and … [Read more...]

Feeling Brave?

Disney's Brave is a tale of a female hero- Princess Merida is determined to make her own way and choose her own fate, much to the chagrin of her Mother- Queen Eleanor. The movie begins with a little princess dancing around in a field on her birthday, a day that ended with a giant bear attacking her father. (Don't worry- he doesn't die). Fast forward to a teenage Merida, now with three little brothers (Moose, Tater and Boo's favorite characters), who has just found out that the three rivaling … [Read more...]

Adam Sandler’s That’s My Boy

That's My Boy was reminiscent of the Adam Sandler movies of old- from Billy Madison to Happy Gilmore- with sophomoric jokes and strong accented voices- Sarah and I laughed through the entire movie- that is when we were not being shocked by what we seeing on the screen. The story starts off in 1987 with a junior high Donny Berger (played by Adam Sandler) having a relationship with his teacher, Mary McGarricle (Eva Amurri Martino) resulting in a child, and Ms. McGarricle going to jail for 33 … [Read more...]

Is Rock of Ages a good movie?

Let me just say the opening scene of this movie shocked me... I had no idea that Tom Cruise could sing- and sing he did! Playing the rock god Stacee Jaxx, he fulfilled every expectation one could have of the role. Sarah and I were able to watch the Broadway play when it came to Denver, and it was by far one of our favorites of all time! The movie was a perfect portrayal of the play and followed along closely, if not exactly, to the story line experienced by watching it on stage. Just in case … [Read more...]

Should I see Madagascar 3?

I have loved taking my kids to see the Madagascar movies and this third one was no disappointment! From the animation, to the character introductions it reminded me from the very beginning why this movie franchise is so successful. With all of the original voices- Ben Stiller, Jada Pinkett-Smith, David Schwimmer, Sasha Baron-Cohen and Chris Rock- other wonderful characters were added. Stefano, voiced by Martin Short, Vitaly, voiced by Bryan Cranston. This cast had my entire family laughing … [Read more...]
