I have this problem, it’s an addiction really and it’s time that I admit it I guess… I am addicted to my phone! It seems like whenever I am a little bit bored I just pick it up and start looking around the internet, seeing what was posted on Facebook that I may have missed in the last 5 minutes since the last time that I checked, etc. This is mainly a problem when it comes to charging the battery on my phone, as you can imagine (or maybe you live the same reality?) I charge my phone overnight but I am on it so much during the day that sometimes the battery is in the red by the end of the day. When I see that little red bar and things start popping up to let me know that I am almost out of juice it’s a little bit scary for some reason; maybe because I need my phone in case of an emergency? Or maybe because checking my email every 2 minutes feels like an emergency? Either way, I needed help!

Enter the Mophie Juice Pack Powerstation, this thing is just what the doctor ordered for my beautiful phone. I just charge up the Mophie overnight while I charge my phone and then I throw it in my bag when I leave the house and the second that my phone starts dying I plug it in and watch the Mophie charge it up before my eyes!

Superman is a true American Icon. He has been around since the 1930’s, his symbol is recognized world wide. His slogan? Faster than a speeding bullet, more powerful than a locomotive, able to leap tall buildings in a single bound… Look! Up in the sky! It’s a bird! It’s a plane! No! It’s Superman!!!

Just like his DC Comic counterpart, Batman, his stories have taken on several different directions throughout the decades, with the main points remaining the same. I grew up watching Christopher Reeve duke it out with Gene Hackman, fall in love with Margo Kidder, battle cyborgs, evil sun versions of himself all while trying to save humanity. I read the novel where Superman dies and manages to come back to life and even suffered through that horrendous tale Superman Returns. I saw Dean Cain and Teri Hatcher portray Lois and Clark then watched as Tom Welling showed us the high school and beyond years of Clark Kent as he developed into the unbreakable man of Superman we know and love.

While sitting in the theater next to Sarah, I was not sure what to expect on this one. Afterword I cheated a little out of excitement and read some of the oddball reviews from a certain site(overripe fruit anyone?). I must disagree with what I was reading from a lot of the critics there. Complaining about lack of character development? Come on… This is Superman! Unless you are living under a rock for the last 70+ years or were just born in the last 3… you know the main characters and characteristics of Superman… Enjoy the movie for what it is. A completely awesome remake of a classic childhood favorite of my generation. If only the technology that exists today would have been around back then- but I still love my old movies..

Back to the new- Henry Cavill plays Krypton’s last son, with Jor El’s character being played by Russell Crowe. I loved the fact that we were able to see and learn more about Krypton from this one movie than I have ever learned about before (kudos to the writers and director for that one.) Amy Adams is Lois Lane and I think she does a fantastic job in the role- however I am not a fan of Margo Kidder in that role so my bar was not set too high…

Michael Shannon is General Zod, a Kryptonian who’s entire force is banished to a black hole because of an uprising on Krypton- and is released by the destruction of the planet. Clark is forced at the General’s return to face his heritage and save all of humanity for the first time, while seemingly destroying most of Metropolis. I felt while the story was awesome, the action was great, it did seem a little fast for IMAX 3D and was not worth the extra money it would take to see it this way.

Who this is for?

This is definitely safe for everyone- there was not any cursing at all that I remember, no death or dismemberment that was obvious, and no nudity. So Yes! this is a great movie for your little ones, but I would probably not go below 5 or 6…

Who this is not for?

If you don’t like or know who Superman is- you may not like this. I would still recommend you give it a chance though-

My Recommendation?

SEE IT IN THE THEATER!!! Check it out in IMAX if you can without the 3D- you won’t regret it!

Enjoy!

Something exciting has happened, I was chosen as an ambassador for Discover Boating!

Summer break means plenty of chances to get outside with your family, it’s time to reconnect with your loved ones and make some new priceless memories with them and doing it on the water makes it even more memorable!

I am excited to go boating this summer because it has been a couple of years since we have been able to get out onto the water, and even more exciting is that this year our boating experience will be in Roatan! Boat+Ocean= always fabulous! It is going to be amazing to see my boys’ out on the ocean on a small boat, we have been on a cruise ship before (which we loved!) but this will be their first time being close to the water. They will be going snorkeling and maybe do some snuba too, I was planning to too but won’t be able since it is right after my surgery, I know they are going to love it.

I would love to go boating locally too, it would be really nice to take the kids’ tubing on the local lakes or something fun like that. Maybe they could even learn to water ski? I should have thought of it earlier and rented a boat for Father’s Day! Maybe next year?

This video is inspirational for me, it makes me think of my childhood and how much fun I had on boats with my family growing up.

I don’t know where any of the boating pictures from my childhood are, I wish I did! I would share them with you. If you know where you pictures of good times with your dad and/or grandpa are you can submit them into the Discover Boating June Facebook Photo Contest for a chance to win a Visa gift card!

Ready to buy a boat of your own? How about joining a boating club or organization?

It’s no wonder these phones fell in love. I am in love with these phones! Actually, so is Jason, he made the switch from the iPhone 5 to the Samsung S4 and I do believe he is thrilled with it, more on that later.

The time has come, I am going to be a grandma! Since I am only 31 (my grandbaby is from my adopted daughter) and I have young kids of my own, I don’t really want to be called “grandma,” so I have been trying to figure out some other things that I could go with instead.

Here are some fun choices that I have found:

Meme- This is what all of the grandkids call my mom)

Gigi- This is what my kids’ call Jason’s mom. It stands for “gorgeous granny”)

Granny- The name we use for Jason’s grandmother)

Big mama- I just love this one for some reason

Lala- No reason really, it doesn’t even mean anything, I just LOVE it!

Mema- My best friends’ kids’ call her mother-in-law Mema

Nana- My nieces and nephews used to call me this, so it would work for me but I don’t know if I want this name forever…

Ona

Noni

Nuni

LeLo

Lolly

Sugar

Yah-yah (yaya)- I think this is going to be my choice!

Abuela

Ommie

Lita

Teetee or Teetaw

Coco

Tutu or tootoo

So, what cute names have you heard for a grandma? What do your grandkids call you?

My little Moose (my 6 year old son) loves dancing, he loves everything about it! He loves to dance, watch dancing on TV (we watch So You Think You Can Dance together) and basically participate in anything that involves dancing in anyway. He is actually taking Break Dancing lessons right now at a local BBoy studio and loving it!

When I got an invitation to see Ballroom with a Twist, I knew I would take my little dance lover with me. He was excited, he loves a good mother/son date as much as I do.

Choreographed by ABC-TVs Emmy-nominated Louis Van Amstel (of “Dancing With The Stars”) this show features celebrity pros Jonathan Roberts, Anna Trebunskaya, Tristan MacManus and Chelsie Hightower from Dancing With The Stars. The celebrity appearances don’t stop there though, you will also see Randi Lynn Strong, Legacy and Jonathan Platero from “So You Think You Can Dance” and Gina Glocksen and Von Smith from “American Idol.”

This star studded cast takes you on a journey of dance, you will see dance styles ranging from ballet to hip-hop. We were thrilled to see that Legacy was a part of this amazing cast, because we just love him! I could watch him dance all night long and never tire of it.

We really enjoyed the show, especially the audience participation part of it! I really wanted Moose to go up on stage, but he wouldn’t, he was too shy. He did sit through the whole show without getting bored which was nice and he talked about it a lot afterwards and said that he really liked it. He was inspired to try other types of dance and has actually been asking me about ballet (to help him with his BBoy moves) recently and I love the idea of that!

If you have a chance to see this show, you should, it was really fun!

Everyone’s favorite air freshener Air Wick has released a new set of scents called “The Air Wick National Parks Collection,” which features scents that were created with different national parks in mind.

The National Parks limited edition collection was crafted by fragrance experts who spend countless hours creating the perfect harmony of fragrance notes representative of the natural elements found in these national parks and pays homage to the brand’s “The Craft of Fragrance” creative platform.

Air Wick has partnered with the National Park Foundation to preserve and celebrate the beauty of America’s over 400 national parks!

The scents-

My very favorite scent of the National Parks collection was the Hawaiian one! The scent can be described as exactly what you think Hawaii would smell like. It has notes of island papaya and mandarin with Hibiscus bringing in the floral element (I love a good Hibiscus!) and a bit of Sandalwood for warmth. I swear that when I plug this one into any room in my house the second I walk into that room I feel like I am instantly taken to a tropical island and that makes me incredibly happy.

Did you know? Studies show that citrus enhances a positive mood. –Air Wick

If you are looking for a clean scent (I love this one for my bedroom and the bathroom) you should look into Denali; it’s a breath of clean cotton, grass and fresh spring air. This one has a touch of tangy green apple along with white flower and a hint of clean musk for a warm earthy feeling.

Did you know? Wildflowers bloom all at the same time in Denali. –Air Wick

For a warm exotic feeling you should pick up the Gulf Islands scent; it has the wonderful smell of Pineapple with Magnolia for that floral touch and coconut for a bit of warmth. This one reminds me of a warm day at the beach with sun tanning lotion all around me. It is a wonderful scent that makes me happy and energized.

Did you know? Smells bring back memories, like the scent of suntan lotion. –Air Wick

Another wonderful island scent is American Samoa. This one will let you experience the refreshing notes of sweet coconut and island palms, you will feel like you are on vacation every time you breathe in. American Samoa has a lot of scents all shoved into one beautiful fragrance; Mango with a bit of grass and Tuberose for a bit of floral feeling and coconut tones to transport you to the islands.

Did you know? The smell of coconut can bring harmony and well being to you and your surroundings. –Air Wick

Next stop is the Virgin Islands where you can drift away with the smell of tropical Plumeria and beautiful Honeysuckle. If you are looking for a very floral scent, this is the one for you! With the wonderfully entrancing scents of Honeysuckle, wild rose, Jasmine, Peach and Mango, you will feel warm and fuzzy all over when you smell this one.

Did you know? The tropical Plumeria flower is most fragrant at night. –Air Wick

Finally something local, the Grand Canyon. Now I have never been there, so I have no idea how it smells but judging by this Air Wick, I want to go there! You get grapefruit, white flowers, peach and rose with a bit of cactus flower and Sandalwood for warmth. I love this one too. It is truly unique and makes you feel bright and alive.

Did you know? The cactus flower can take up to 10 years to bloom. –Air Wick

How can you get them?

These lovely fragrances come in a few different forms, including; Scented Oils, Scented Candles, Reed Diffusers and a Freshmatic Spray. The products range from $2.99 to $5.99 so they are extremely affordable and worth every penny!

GOOGLE- It’s a verb. It’s a noun. It’s a name and place people recognize around the globe- We have all heard it is the place to work, right? Massages, professional chefs, flex hours, etc…

In Vince Vaughn’s and Luke Wilson’s new comedy The Internship, two middle age guys who are on their last leg take a chance and apply for an internship at Google. Surrounded by young geniuses from all walks of life and different levels of… da social skills… they manage to ingratiate themselves into the lives of the tech savvy while pulling together and managing to learn a lot about themselves in the process.

Billy and Nick are two salesmen who find out the hard way that the company they have been selling for is out of business. Now in their 40’s, with no real skills and no real direction in their lives, Billy (Vaughn) happens to come across an opportunity to interview for an internship at Google. Tons of comedy and one liners ensue, Sarah and I laughed throughout the entire movie.

I liked Wedding Crashers, Swingers, Marley and Me, Couples Retreat and probably a lot of other movies from these two which got bad reviews. The reason? I really think they have got on screen chemistry and they make me laugh. Filled with dry, witty humor meant for those of us more chronologically advanced than your average teen… If you enjoy these two actors and enjoy just a feel good comedy with a slight morality lesson thrown in, this is up your alley.

Who this is for?

As stated above- feel good comedy and full of laughs- if this is something you crave or are in the mood for, check it out.

Who this is not for?

This is a PG-13 movie which, in my opinion, bordered very close to an R. There was a lot of cursing, no F-Bombs but several times they did say GD and your typical crude references to body parts and functions. For this reason I would say not a good one for the little ones- especially those under the age of 14.

My Recommendation?

Definitely a good date night movie and again- if you enjoy these types of movies you will not regret tossing your money at the theater.

Enjoy!
