Is Fast and Furious 6 Good for Kids?

Fast-and-Furious-6.jpg

The Fast and the Furious, 2 Fast 2 Furious, Tokyo Drift, Fast and Furious, Fast Five… If you are a fan of the movies- you know that one of these things is not like the others, which one??? (Hint- Japan) What do you need to tie them all together? Furious 6, another sequel which , surprisingly, was enjoyed by everyone in the audience. Including me. When The Fast and The Furious came out 12 (Yes, TWELVE) years ago, I remember going to see it in a drive in theater. Warning- this is not a good … [Read more...]

The Great Gatsby- A remake of a classic?

Gatsb.jpg

Walking into this movie had me confused. I saw the trailers, read the synopsis and still was not exactly sure what this was about. I knew that it had Leo and Toby, beyond that I had no clue what else to expect. I have seen the 1974 version a long, long time ago and so that is what I had it to compare to. The music was updated, the cars were more animated and the overall scenery and costumes were certainly Oscar worthy. Past that- the story is the same. Don’t get me wrong, Leo and Toby both … [Read more...]

Is Iron Man 3 good for kids?

Iron-man-3.png

Iron Man 3 is (obviously) the third movie in the Iron Man series, it was actually the first one that I have seen… but I will be going back to watch the other ones now. This movie was really great! We took all three kids with us Lou (9 year old niece), Tater (8 year old son) and Moose (6 year old son) and I wasn’t sure how they would do but they really loved the first two Iron Man movies and they were begging to see this one too, so I thought it was worth a shot. Marvel's "Iron Man … [Read more...]

Is The Host worth seeing in the theater?

The-Host.jpg

The Host is based on Stephanie Meyers(author of the Twilight Saga) new book of the same title. The story is based on an invasion of parasitic aliens who have taken over all but a handful of humans. In a search for peace and harmony they are seeking out the resistance of humans to completely eradicate them from the face of the planet… sounds like an oxymoron, right? Enter into the equation a ton of talent from lesser known actors/actresses- and somehow they manage to pull off a really cool … [Read more...]

G.I. JOE: Retaliation- A Real American Hero!!!

GI-Joe.jpg

I remember growing up and playing with my G.I. JOE action figures (not dolls…). I remember watching the cartoon every Saturday, fighting with my sister just because it happened to come on the same time as the Care Bears… remember when houses only had one TV in them? Now we are all grown up, we have TV’s in abundance in our houses, and G.I. JOE is being made into live action movies… (take that Care Bears!!!) G.I. JOE: Retaliation is the second movie in the series, combining a little bit … [Read more...]

Is The Call worth seeing?

The-Call-Image.jpg

When I read the synopsis of this movie, I was not sure I would be into it. Then when I saw the trailer for the movie, I was intrigued. Jordan Turner (Halle Berry) is a 911 operator who takes a call and because of a mistake she made, a little girl is killed. She is soon given a chance to redeem herself when another girl is abducted (Abigail Breslin) and she is forced to confront the killer from her past. Not a great description right? Do yourself a favor- go to youtube and look at the trailer, … [Read more...]

Is The Incredible Burt Wonderstone Good for Kids?

The-Incredible-Burt-Wonderstone.jpg

Steve Carrell, Steve Buscemi and Jim Carrey. Three historically great actors/comedians star together in an original comedy by four up and comers in the screenplay writing world- Chad Kultgen, Tyler Mitchell, Jonathan M. Goldstein and John Francis Daley. Throw in some Olivia Wilde and you have a great movie, right? Unfortunately, no… While the movie had the potential to be “incredible”, it fell short of that title by quite a bit. The storyline was mediocre, the comedy, while some … [Read more...]

Is Oz the Great and Powerful a Good Movie?

oz-the-great-and-powerful-banner-poster.jpg

This week in Denver I had the privilege of viewing Oz the Great and Powerful with Moose. It was a phenomenal movie, filled with the wonders and amazing sights that can only be seen using today’s technology. Watching this in 3D was worthwhile as well, one scene in particular. Costumes, scenery and story all come together to make an amazing movie. James Franco, Mila Kunis, Rachel Weisz, Michelle Williams and Zach Braff help to complete this all-star cast and bring life to 1 of the 15 books … [Read more...]

Dead Man Down- Who knew?

DEAD-MAN-DOWN-Poster.jpg

I saw the original Girl With the Dragon Tattoo. While it was okay, I was not totally impressed. I walked into this movie not knowing exactly what to expect- other than Colin Farrell, Terrence Howard and gunfire. Two different stories collide and intertwine in a story of romance and revenge. Unexpected alliances are formed and the underground comes up for a breath while this tale grips you and takes you on a ride you will not forget. Victor (Farrell) is Alphonse’s (Howard’s) right-hand … [Read more...]

Is Jack the Giant Slayer good for kids?

jack-the-giant-slayer.jpg

Just now getting home from watching Jack the Giant Slayer and my mind is still reeling. Bryan Singer has managed to capture my imagination for almost two decades now- from The Usual suspects to X-men 1 and 2- now he manages to enthrall audiences with his version of Jack and the Beanstalk. Starring Nicholas Hoult (from one of my favorite new movies, Warm Bodies, X-men First Class) Ewan McGregor, Ian McShane and Eleanor Tomlinson just to name a few, Jack the Giant Slayer brings a very, very … [Read more...]
