No matter what kind of mom you are – new mom, step mom, single-mom, full-time mom, etc – it’s hard work. So much so that there’s a day dedicated to celebrating you! My first Mother’s Day was the day before I went into labor with my oldest. The hubby got me a planted Lily of the Valley because at the time we were knee deep in all things Breaking Bad. A year later, when my boy was almost 1, what I really wanted for Mother’s Day was 1. sleep, 2. hugs and lovin’ from my tub-o-baby, 3. some appreciation for all the work and worry that it takes to be a mom.
As my kiddos have grown, handmade gifts are what mean the most to me. They’re sweet, sentimental, and the joy in my kids’ eyes when they give it to me is all I need. There’s something so special about a gift someone makes for you, especially when it’s something cool or clever.
Inspired from the idea of creativity and gifting with purpose, I created an event for Mother’s Day where dads and their kids can come to a workshop and make a beautiful gift by hand. We will provide all of the supplies and tools needed, along with a photo tutorial with instructions to make the gift for mom. Working at your own pace, you’ll be in a community atmosphere, getting project tips, advice or help if needed.
Moms get a beautiful handmade gift and kids/dad get the satisfaction of hitting Mother’s Day out of the ball park this year!
Workshops are the weekend before Mother’s Day on both Saturday and Sunday, May 6th & 7th in Boulder. Drop-in hours on Saturday are 10am to 2pm and Sunday 1pm to 5pm. Gift kits, which contain everything they’ll need to make a beautiful gift, cost $35 in advance purchased on Eventbrite and $45 at the door. All projects take less than an hour to complete. Children under the age of 10 may have difficulty creating a project on their own, so please anticipate working with small children if you bring them.
