Toyota contacted me with an offer of a RAV4 and tickets to the CU football game, well, as a Colorado girl who loves football I was like, “heck yes!” The opportunity to tailgate is too much fun to pass up, right? It is for me!
They brought me the most beautiful RAV4, it was a glorious purple color, with a giant sunroof.
I really loved the color, it was purple, but not like in-your-face purple, the kind of purple that no one would whine about having to drive around in a “purple” vehicle. In fact, my dad commented a couple of times that he just loved the richness of the color.
The difference in cars these last few years is just mind blowing! I love back-up camera’s, I think they’re amazing, but the back-up camera in this RAV4 blows away ANY back-up camera I have ever experienced in my life. Let me tell you all about it instead! There are cameras mounted all over the RAV4 so that when you put it in reverse you can see the vehicle from a “birds eye view,” which allows you to see not only behind your vehicle, but also around the sides and front. For me, this is major! You wouldn’t think you would need it, but there are times when you can’t see what’s going on in front of your car; for instance, when a cat runs across your driveway when you’re about to pull out and you aren’t sure if it’s out of the way or not, the cameras allow you to check.
Toyota RAV4 features:
- All of the 2017 RAV4 models feature standard pre-collision braking (the vehicle will break for you if it senses an accident is about to happen)
- Lane departure warning (you can turn this off, or on. The vehicle will alert you if you cross over the lane lines without using a blinker)
- Adaptive cruise control (adapts to traffic, slows down when the car in front of you is going slower than your max speed)
- Automatic high beam headlights
2017 vs. 2016 and older RAV4 models
Personally, I love every RAV4 that I’ve driven, but I will say that the 2017 definitely has the best safety features. If you’ve been waiting to buy a compact SUV, now is the time! The 2018 won’t likely improve *that* much, and the price will surely go up, so why not get (what I assume is) nearly the same features now for a better price? I am so impressed with the newer model, even though I love the 2016, I would buy the 2017 in a heartbeat!
It was my privilege to go to a CU vs. ASU game while I had the RAV4; which gave me a great opportunity to test out the tailgating capabilities. We had plenty of space for our little grill, a bunch of groceries, and a cooler full of soda and water to fit in the back, with room to spare!
We walked around and talked to a bunch of other “Toyota tailgaters” too, everyone was awesome to talk to! We shared some goodies, and some Toyota talk. Here are some of the awesome tailgating ideas that we found.
That’s it! Tailgating is so easy, and it’s really a blast! The most important part of the night is making sure that someone is the designated sober driver, or that you take Lyft, Uber, or taxi home! Be safe, and make it to the next game by making good choices!
Disclosure: I was provided with a RAV4, tickets to CU vs. ASU at CU, and a budget for tailgating supplies in order to do this post. No other compensation was received. All, and I do mean ALL opinions above are 100% my own and were not influenced in any way. Toyota seriously rocks, I mean it.
