I’ve never visited the Southlands shopping center before, but they invited me out to do some shopping, and who am I to pass on shopping? Puh! Never! I’ve heard friends talk about shopping, eating, and hanging out here, so I knew it would be good.
As you may, or may not know, I home-school my kiddos, but I also teach at a homeschooling co-op one day a week. It’s so much fun, but it really does bring back the pressure that I felt when I was in school! The first day of school is the day that you make your first impression for the year, and teacher back-to-school outfits are just as important as student back-to-school outfits!
Southlands is an outdoor lifestyle center with a four-block Main street and community plaza surrounded by additional retailers, restaurants plus a state-of-the-art health club facility. Some of the most popular names in retail, restaurants and entertainment can be found here. Among them are AMC Southlands 16 Theatre, Barnes & Noble, Eddie Bauer, Chico’s, H&M, Charming Charlie, Ted’s Montana Grill, Tokyo Joe’s, Best Buy, American Eagle and many more.
Southlands is located at the intersection of E-470 and Smoky Hill Road in Aurora, Colorado
Teacher back-to-school outfits-
We started out our morning with coffee at Legends Coffee, where we grabbed a coffee, and an amazing strawberry shortbread snack. I honestly did not realize how huge this shopping center is! I mean, it is 1.7 million-square-foot of retail space, that’s a whole-lotta shopping! I wish I had been wearing a Fitbit while we walked around!
I found everything a teacher could ever want, or need for back-to-school. Inexpensive, comfortable dress pants! Enough cardigans to cover your shoulders, and keep you warm for the rest of the year!
I ended up finding a lot of red, and I loved it! Red is such a “pop” color, it’s fun for teachers because it’s bright. I loved this coral-red maxi dress that was paired with a gorgeous necklace, add a cardigan and BAM!
Speaking of fun accessories, I couldn’t believe how many cool stores they have for teacher jewelry! I know that I don’t feel completely dressed for the first day without my chunky necklace, and earrings. They had some amazing sales going on too, I wanted to buy everything. It wasn’t just jewelry, purses, and scarves, Southlands also has Beyond The Blackboard, a store where teachers can find lots of ideas, bulletin board decor, name plates, notebooks, and the list goes on, and on! I could have spent my whole budget just on fun stuff there, and I know my kids would have loved it!
The Southlands is one of the biggest shopping centers I’ve ever been to, and I found more stores that would work for my body type than I think I ever have in any mall. I was shocked at the huge selection, I loved that they have food shops, movie theaters, places to eat, liquor stores, etc. all in a one-stop-shop!
Disclosure: I was given a gift card to use while I enjoyed my time at the Southlands. All opinions are 100% my own, and were not influenced in anyway. This seriously is a great shopping area!
