How to make a zebra stripped cake

Directions-

Arizona and boys party 012

1. Make your favorite cake recipes, any colors that you would like as long as they are different colors. You can think totally out of the box here and make 2 white cakes and then color them any colors that you would like with food coloring. I made a chocolate and a white cake to fit in with my Mickey Mouse theme.

2. Prepare your cake pans however you would normally, I used two 14” round pans that I greased and then floured. Once your pans are ready you should take one of the colors and drop some in the center of the pan; I used 1/2 C measuring cups to scoop my batter into the pans and it worked perfectly.

3. Now all you have to do is keep dropping batter into the pans using alternating colors until the pan is as full as you need. I filled mine to two-thirds full and it was perfect. Bake it at the temperature specified for your cake, or your pans.

Ta Da! Beautiful cake that will amaze your friends and family! They will never know how incredibly simple it was to make! If you want thin stripes you should rotate colors often, like I did with the 1/2 cup servings of batter; if you want thicker stripes you should put more batter with each scoop, maybe a cup or more depending on the thickness you desire. It should be known that I am not a “cake person” or a baker by any means, so if I can do this, you can do this!

  1. This is so cool! I like it alot, it would be fun to do two totally different colors. Very pretty and fancy, I like the frosting job you did also!

  2. For anyone interested–I saw that cake before it was cut–and it looked even better in real life. It tasted great too.
It really is a neat idea and don’t be afraid to try it. It was so fitting and fun at the party.
    Thanks again, Sarah
