Review of the movie Savages

When I first saw the preview for Savages, I was intrigued. I have always enjoyed Oliver Stone movies, and this one does not fail his high standard of movie. Starring Blake Lively (Green Lantern, Gossip Girl), Taylor Kitsch (John Carter, Friday Night Lights) and Aaron Johnson (Nowhere Boy, Kick-Ass) as the main trio, you also are treated to John Travolta, Salma Hayek and Benicio Del Toro (my personal favorite)

The movie begins describing the relationship between the main trio, which is a little different than what you may be used to but certainly necessary for the movie to progress in the way it did. Chon and Ben (Kitsch and Johnson) are marijuana growers who have a product that the BC (Baja Cartel) want. The BC is headed by Elena (Hayek) who utilizes the unorthodox skills of Lado (Del Toro) to sway independent "businesses" to her fray. Lots of death, blood and violence seem to be the main method to Lado’s own madness.

Overall, tremendous action, acting and cinematography along with a fantastic script make this a must see.

Who is this for? Anyone over the age of 17 who enjoys Stone movies

Who isn’t this for? Children, people who are easily queasy by blood and gore

My recommendation- worth seeing in the theater, so go check it out!
