I took Moose, Tater and their cousin Louie to the Butterfly Pavilion for some homeschooling fun!
Tater got to hold “Rosie” the tarantula and he loved it! Moose and Louie refused to even look at her at first but eventually held her.
(Yes, Louie is a girl)
The kids were obsessed with finding the dead or dying butterflies and kept seeking them out, crazy little kids!
We made it just in time for the butterfly release, which is really cool! They hatch the butterflies there at the pavilion so every day there are lots of new babies emerging.
When the butterflies first hatch it is a great time for the zoo keeper to show them off to the crowd. Newly hatched butterflies can’t fly yet because their wings are too soft so they basically have to sit around and wait for their wings to harden.
He puts them on this branch to wait for their wings to harden for flight but until then you can get up close and look at all of their details. They are so gorgeous up close! I have been to the pavilion a few times but the butterfly release is something I have never seen before; I will make it a point to see it every time now!
If you live in Colorado and you haven’t been to the Butterfly Pavilion you should check it out, it is good, decently priced family fun!

My name is Sarah, I have been very happily married for 8 years now. I am the mother of 2 adorable boys; Tater (Caden) who is 8 and Moose (Conlan) who is 6. We are living in beautiful Colorado, homeschooling our kids and loving every minute of it!

That looks like fun (except for the spider…they're SO creepy!!)!
Following you back!

Man that tarantula is scary!!
Mary from Tanya's class
Very cute site!
My oldest would love the butterflies…she'd be a little freaked by the tarantula.
At the zoo not too far from us they have a butterfly garden. Every year we go in there and my daughter wear's her brightest colors and will not leave until she has at least one butterfly land on her!
I'm a new follower of yours – it was nice meeting you tonight at Tanya's course!
Have a great night!

Please stop by and say hello!
Sounds like the kids and you had a wonderful time! I have never seen them hatch. Never caught it at the right time.
That tarantula freaks me out just looking at it! Your kids must be very brave.
I adore butterfly conservatories. Every time we go on vacation I try to find one. Little Bit has never been to one and I know this would be an awesome expedition this summer when he is around 15 months old.
Thank you so much for taking the time to visit my blog. I truly appreciate it. Have a blessed day!
